The long awaited sequel to the hit super Gaayam, Gaayam two finally arrived today. Gaayam Jagapathi Babu made a hero and returns to the film, when his career gradually begins to crumble. Let's see if Gaayam 2 manages to recreate the magic of the original.

Story:

The story begins on a rather more painfully slow. The hero Ram (Jagapathi Babu) is a happily married life with a loving wife and a child. He runs a coffee shop in Bangkok.

Just when life seems to be running smoothly, two people arriving from India. They are attorney and Tanikella Bharani Prasad Kota. They have seen on TV and Sheep want to see whether in fact it is Durga.

The two are in Bangkok to hear Ram is really the same Durga who had a longstanding dispute Narayana Guru Prasads father (Kota Srinivasa Rao) who were presumed dead.

Kota duo Tanieklla Bharani Prasad and try all the tricks of the trade to confirm if the RAM is indeed Durga or not. To what extent are successful in their efforts is the basis for the rest of the story.

Performance:

Jagapathi Babu comes with a good performance. The intensity he had shown in Gaayam not and age is a factor that could be the cause. Otherwise, he did a good job.

Vimala Raman plays a submissive housewife and cozy perfection. She does get his act right holders and for the frontbenchers are a couple of romantic songs too hot.

Kota Srinivasa Rao is the real hero. He does an excellent job as the black Narayana Guru, whose only ambition in life is to become the chief minister, by any means. Kota also impresses with its emphasis Telangana and puts it to good effect.

Kota Prasad's son growing Kota dies in a car accident recently. Prasad is a talented actor like his father and leaves a mark on the film. The film is dedicated to his memory. Tanikella Bharani is cool and efficient, the rest of the cast of Harshavardhan, Ajay, Jeeva, Ravi Kale and others are fine.

Analysis:

Gaayam 2 runs slowly. In fact most of the first half is a summary of Gaayam original. Jagapathi Babu is narrating his past to his wife Vimala Raman in endless cups of coffee.

The dialogues are good and the music is good. The film has its share of ups and downs, but the second half is very absorbent. The major drawback of the film is that history is already known.

Verdict:

The film raises expectations, as it is a protege of Ram Gopal Varma and RGV is the producer. The movie is not as impressive as the original, but totally does not disappoint either. Praveen Lanka has succeeded in creating an interesting sequel manages to do a pretty good job. It can be seen once.
